We are 2.5 weeks away from surgery, and Aaron seems to just be taking the whole thing in stride, while his dad and I at times find ourselves with that "deer in the headlights" look. I suspect the only thing Aaron is thinking about right now is turning 21 on the 25th! How did he get that old anyway?
This next week we should be heading to the hospital for the pre-surgery testing. Blood work, EKG, EEG, etc. Apparently, if we get that out of the way prior to the day of surgery, he won't have to be there earlier to do the testing. How much earlier could it possibly be? As it is, he has to be to the hospital at 5:30 a.m.!
I have been blessed the past couple of days with meeting a young man from Houston who is 21 who had the same exact surgery Aaron will have! He has offered so much encouragement and information, and he and Aaron will be meeting through email soon! Then I also met a mom whose 12-year-old son underwent brain surgery just 3.5 weeks ago! She too has been an encouragement! I met both of these folks on a yahoo group for epilepsy surgery. Aren't these new-fangled gadgets great?
Stay tuned for additional posts!
